Join us on Tuesday, September 5, at 5:30pm for the opening reception and author talk with writer and curator, Ana Merino, and comic author article, Ana Penyas. The reception will be held in the Library. Here is the schedule.

• 5:30 p.m. — Spanish and Latino-American Refreshments
• 6:00 p.m. — Presentations by Ana Merino and Ana Penyas

Illustrating Spain in the U.S. is a creative dialogue about the role that Spaniards played in the history of the United States. This exhibit combines the graphic expressiveness of comics and their authors with the inquisitive perspective of scholars who have written a series of complementary articles. Comic creators have built comic strips that feed on academic knowledge and demonstrate that Spain has been part of America’s reality since before the U.S. was officially founded.
