Find Journals and Find Articles outage during Memorial Day weekend

The Library’s “Find Journals” and “Find Articles” websites will be offline over the Memorial Day weekend from Saturday, May 29 9:00 PM EDT through Sunday, May 29 9:00 PM EDT while Ex Libris, the vendor for these services, migrate their services to a new data center.

During the outage, you will be unable to look up a journal title and links to the full-text of articles from research databases will be offline. You can still use the Library catalog (https://library.lemoyne.edu) to look up journal titles and you can still navigate a given journal or database to access an article.

Please direct questions to Tom Keays https://resources.library.lemoyne.edu/profiles/tomkeays.

Connect NY Offline

Connect NY

Connect NY is migrating to a new platform during spring/summer 2021. While this change will lead to a more user-centered experience for library patrons, it does mean that our Connect NY services are unavailable through August 2021.

During this time books can still be requested from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Interlibrary Loan Department at ill@lemoyne.edu.

Important changes to Connect NY

Connect NY

Connect NY is migrating to a new platform during spring/summer 2021. While this change will lead to a more user-centered experience for library patrons, it does mean that our Connect NY services will be unavailable during the implementation phase.

While the Connect NY catalog will be unavailable, books can still be requested from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan.

The last day to submit requests for materials through Connect NY is Thursday, March 11, 2021. This service will be offline until the new platform goes live in August 2021. Any items requested by March 11th will receive the normal 42 day loan period but renewals will not be available.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Interlibrary Loan Department at ill@lemoyne.edu.

Mourning the passing of Noreen Reale Falcone …

Noreen and Michael Falcone at the 1998 re-dedication of the college library in her honor.

Le Moyne College alumna Noreen Reale Falcone passed away February 6th. A graduate of the class of 1958, regent, trustee, and benefactor of Le Moyne College, Noreen’s passing is a great loss not only to us at the College, but to the communities and charities far and wide that she served. In 1998 the campus library was named in her honor.

ProQuest Server Maintenance, Jan 30

ProQuest will be taking up to an eight-hour maintenance window beginning Saturday, January 30 at 10:00 PM ET to upgrade infrastructure, enhance security, and maintain reliability on many of its online products. During this maintenance window, the following platforms will be unavailable.

  • ProQuest Research databases
  • Ebook Central
  • Academic Video Online (Alexander Street)
  • ProQuest Syndetic Solutions

Library Databases and Catalog Outage January 5th

Work on the Library server is now completed as of noon, January 5th.

The Library will be upgrading its proxy server and catalog on January 5, 2021, beginning at 9:00 am ET and lasting 4-6 hours. During this time, online journals, ebooks, and databases will be unavailable from both on- and off-campus.

If you are on-campus, a work-around is available. In both Chrome and Firefox browsers, you are able to install this UnProxy This bookmarklet, by dragging it into your bookmarks toolbar. Clicking it will remove the proxy server information from any library resource’s URL that you are trying to access. This will allow you to access the library resource from on-campus.

If you have any problems, please contact Tom Keays. He will be monitoring a special Zoom Meeting Room during the server outage to help with any problems you might have.

Librarians are available at the Library Services Desk through the on call iPad

Are you in the library and looking for help from a librarian? Come to the Library Services Desk and ask for the on call librarian iPad. You will then be connected with a librarian through an iPad provided at the desk. Not in the library? No problem! Librarians are also available through a number of different formats including chat, zoom, email, phone, or text. See our AskUs services for more information.

Connect NY Service Resumes

We are pleased to announce that Connect NY has resumed operations and that member libraries are again able to fulfill your book requests. Connect NY is a consortium of New York State libraries that lend books to each other. If you search in the Le Moyne library catalog and can’t find a book you need, you can easily extend your search in the Connect NY shared catalog to see if one of the member libraries owns a copy. You can then place an order for the book yourself and you will receive immediate confirmation that your request was made. You can track the progress of your request through your Library Account. When we receive your book, we will send you an email notice and you can pick it up at the Library Services Desk. Books can be borrowed for 42 days with one renewal allowed.

Two cautions, however. Not all of the Connect NY libraries have restarted their service. Adelphi, Canisius, Pace, Pratt and RPI all have books listed in the Connect NY catalog but are not yet able to fill your request. If you get a message that reads, “Sorry, you are not allowed to request this item over Connect NY,” that’s what it means. Secondly, not all libraries have completely reopened their Interlibrary Loan offices and are processing requests or mailing out books only a few days a week. That means that turn-around time for some of your book requests may extend to over a week. Please plan accordingly and give yourself sufficient lead time before your assignment due dates to place your requests.

Library Services During COVID-19

Librarians and staff at Falcone welcome returning students, staff, and faculty to campus for Fall semester. We hope everyone has a happy, productive, and safe year at Le Moyne College. We’ve put together a Library Services During COVID-19 guide to help you locate changes and enhancements to Library services.

Here are a few important things to know about as the new semester starts.

Falcone Library reopened on August 13th and, with some exceptions, will follow similar hours of operation as previous years. Library collections are open for browsing all hours the library is open. In order to enter the building you will need to swipe in using your Le Moyne ID. You are expected to wear a face covering while you are in the building, to practice social distancing, and be prepared to show a green badge on your emocha app. Due to the current situation, we are unable to open our building to those who are not current students, faculty, or staff of Le Moyne College.

The library has created special hours designated for vulnerable/concerned patrons. The library will be accessible to this group 20 minutes prior to general opening Monday–Friday using cardkey swipe access. In order to request this swipe access, please contact Lisa Chaudhuri <doylel@lemoyne.edu>. We’ve also launched a new service called Paging & Pickup where patrons can place holds on materials through the catalog and retrieve them at the Library Services Desk.

In person reference services are available at the Library Service Desk during all hours of operation. Research consultations and in depth reference questions are best directed to our on call librarian. You can get in contact with the on call librarian by chat, email, or text. In addition, appointments are available with librarians using Zoom, Google Hangouts or by phone. The library also has a number of resources to assist faculty, especially those who are teaching online in the fall. Le Moyne Librarians are prepared to provide library instruction in a variety of formats including in person, virtual (synchronous or asynchronous), and other modes as requested.
